Medieval Party - Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Ideas for Your Medieval Feast!

Capture the magic of the Middle Ages with a medieval party. White knights, fair maidens and a feast fit for King Arthur. Hark back to the ole days with dashing knights like Sir Lancelot at your side. It's easy and fun with a couple of party planning tips!

In the medieval times, there was clearly no electricity so invest in plenty of candles and if you have a fireplace in your living room and your party happens to be in chilly weather, light the fire. Get a few sconces with Gothic, medieval designs carved in and a dark Gothic looking tureen to serve the punch. If you have a dark red velvet fabric or curtain, place it at the sides of the foyer or front door to create a dramatic entry point for your medieval party.

All ye ladies! Wear long, simple gowns and chunky, ethnic big pieces of jewelry. Tie long hair in braids. Knights, you can wear long tunics and fitted rough textured pants, preferably in leather. Plenty of rich colors like ruby, dark wine and forest green in fabrics like velvet can be used in dressing. Male guests might even like to share the cost of hiring a knight's costume, and divvy up the accessories - helmet, shield, chain-mail and the rest. It is a medieval party after all, so you have to dress the part!

Simple hearty fare, such as grilled chicken or beef, is a good idea for your medieval party. If you are outdoors, a hog roast is also a good idea for a medieval party. A fresh baker's loaf of bread and a knife to slice it yourself should be placed on the table, along with fresh fruit, cheese and other goodies. Beer was popular in those days so bring out the keg, and don't forget the wine too.

A medieval party with all your friends can be a great way to celebrate your next special occasion. With a few ideas to start with and some pre-planning, your party will truly be one to remember.
