Every little girl plays with tea sets for hours and dreams of tea parties of her own. When it is time for your child to celebrate a special birthday, he or she is sure to enjoy inviting their guests for high tea at the appropriate hour!
Choose things like tiaras, feather boas, fancy hats, toy high heeled shoes, "precious" jewelry, and other items of fancy dress up clothing borrowed from closets or thrift stores to allow the guests to "comply with the tea party dress code" by playing dress up, and as an added option, have children's make and unbreakable mirrors so the guests can make themselves beautiful, and you have a neat, fun party activity that will give everyone lots of fun!
Serve party foods and beverages in toy tea sets, and allow children to play act the parts of host or hostess and grateful guests. A simple menu of peanut butter and jelly or cheese sandwiches trimmed of crust and cut into neat cookie cutter shapes, juices (apple juice works well since it is the color of tea) veggies, fruits and veggie and fruit dip, and birthday cake with ice cream will work incredibly well since the focus is on the dress up tea party activities rather than on the actual menu.
For an additional activity, you can stage bead stringing contests, hat decorating contests, or play traditional games like pin the tail on the donkey. Be sure to have a printer set up and a digital camera, so you can take plenty of pictures and print plenty so that each child may have one of their own to take home when the party is over.
